Abstract:
In this report, we studied the variation of optical properties in the visible and near-IR range for Zinc oxide (ZnO) thin films on two different substrates. Cauchy's and Sellmeier's model both are used for simulation using Matlab. Thickness of all the films is considered as a variable parameter to compare the optical properties of the films. It is found that the refractive index and extinction coefficient decreases with increase in the wavelength. The transmittance curves for different thicknesses of ZnO on glass substrate show that the interference fringes increases due to the increase in the thickness of the films. ZnO being a promising material for different optical and optoelectronic device applications, the simulation and comparison of optical properties help to optimize the best material/property relationship for the promising devices.
