Abstract:

Recently the concept and the respective techniques of harvesting and utilization of electromagnetic radiation, being continuously present in the environment and resulting from human activities, especially from public telecommunication networks, have been topics of extensive research. Proposed techniques mostly use antennas as the grade which would gather the radiation power. In this work a technique which introduces the usage of specific dielectric structures with artificially negative electric permittivity and magnetic permeability(Double Negative media or DNG) in combination with an ordinary harvesting system is presented. The theoretical approach to this problem is accompanied by corresponding numerical results which show the DNG media' s capability of enhancing the effectiveness of electromagnetic energy scavenging.
