Abstract:
Active power filters have been used to eliminate current harmonics generated by nonlinear loads, because such loads decrease the power quality, but with the growing use of renewable energy sources interconnected to the grid is possible integrate the function of the active power Alter to the grid-connected photovoltaic-system, the functions in a single device. Due to the before mentioned the use of photovoltaic (PV) system with the harmonic compensation is proposed in this paper, a sliding mode controller is considered to control the power converter. The system consists of two stages, and it is able to inject active power into the grid while eliminating current harmonics generated by nonlinear loads at the point of common coupling (PCC). The system is designed and simulated, and then the effectiveness of the proposed sliding mode controller and advantages over conventional PV inverters are confirmed.
