Abstract:
The major drawback in case of MEMO-OFDM is its high value of Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR) which leads to frequency spread spectrum along with the in-band distortion. This is because of the non linearity present in the high power amplifiers. The higher PAPR value needs to be reduced although its probability is not very high. The performance of the signal is affected while removing the high peaks. Therefore, special care needs to be taken to reduce the PAPR in OFDM using MEMO. In this paper, a new algorithm is being proposed which is based on the combination of SLM and PTS techniques for PAPR reduction. Earlier to this, the existing PAPR reduction techniques use either SLM or PTS as an individual on MEMO-OFDM The proposed approach decreases the PAPR when compared with the existing methods. By considering QPSK modulated MEMO-OFDM systems and four number of antennas, it has been shown that the proposed technique is a good compromise among all these factors.
