Abstract:

A novel attempt is made to develop a suitable algorithm for embedded platforms to process the electrical output signal from a multifunctional piezoresistive sensor to extract the pressure and temperature components, separately. The output response of piezoresistive material is a function of both pressure and temperature variables. General Regression Neural Network (GRNN) and Multiple Linear Regression (MLR) implementation have been used to calculate these different sensing variables from the aggregated output response of the sensor. The algorithm is prototyped and tested in ARM7 TDMI platform (NXP LPC2148 microcontroller), giving results with moderate accuracy.
