Abstract:

In chemotherapy treatment of cancers, drug delivery has a significant impact on the therapeutic value of medication. Transdermal drug delivery uses microneedles to penetrate easily into the tumor by creating holes in the epidermis & providing a painless drug delivery. Microneedles are safer alternative to hypodermic needle injections in delivery of drugs. They could also be used for targeting of the bioactive for treating cancers. This paper focuses that microneedles represent a promising microfabricated device that can be used for drug delivery system in cancer therapy. A drug reservoir with microneedles is designed and analyzed by using COMSOL software. From simulation results, an optimal design is recommended for microfluidics based drug delivery system in cancer therapy.
