Abstract:

The photonic crystal device is potentially important for sub-millimeter and terahertz applications and will induce new breakthrough in modern electromagnetic wave circuits. The propagation loss of photonic crystal waveguides with a strong confinement wall is a key factor in design and is related to the confinement of guided mode. The dispersion characteristics of the PhC structure are firstly calculated by using the plane wave expansion method. The wave propagation properties of the PhC straight waveguides, sharp angled bends and microcavity are numerically investigated.
