Abstract:

Past studies on Cooperative Multi-Point(CoMP) Processing/Base Station Cooperation (BSC) technique has revealed the technique's potential to improve the system's capacity. However, many of the previous studies seem to ignore a fact that a practical network will have to be divided into multiple CoMP groups and operated in parallel, due to certain network limitations such as transmission latency, signalling overhead or limited backhaul network. However, in a network where multiple CoMP groups co-exist, the interference between CoMP groups will be un-avoidable and we call this interference Out of CoMP Group Interference(OGI). We show OGI can greatly decrease the performance of CoMP and as a solution, we propose a novel OGI-aware CoMP precoding algorithm, which employs a novel parameter μ obtained through a ergodic search method. The new algorithm is shown to be at least 75% more effective than the traditional CoMP precoding schemes under the influence of OGI.
