Abstract:

In this work the Fe-Mn bimetal oxide was synthesized and was used for the removal of chromium. It was found that the effective pH for adsorption of chromium was in the range of 5.0 to 7.0, and the removal percentage of chromium reached maximum at pH 6.0. The kinetic study showed that the adsorption of chromium was well described by pseudo-second-order model. The removal efficiency of chromium increased with the increase of adsorbent dosage and the decrease of the initial concentration. In the range of 20°C to 60°C, temperature did not significantly affect the adsorption of chromium. The chromium adsorption isotherm data fit well to the Freundlich equation, the Freundlich constant Kf was 3.85 and 1/n was 0.363.
