Abstract:

We investigated a new kind of electromagnetic (EM) absorber that is based on a surface plasmon-polariton induced on a corrugated conductive surface when illuminating the surface with an EM wave. EM simulations revealed that there is optimal conductivity in corrugated sheets for maximizing absorption. Based on our EM simulation results, we fabricated EM absorbers by impregnating corrugated paper with carbon nanotube suspension. A fairly good agreement between the measured and simulated absorptions was obtained. The present scheme will create new opportunities for solving EM interference problems.
