Abstract:
The longitudinal magnetic recording process has been simulated using a supercomputer, and was compared with the perpendicular magnetic recording process. The computer simulation was based on a model of curling incoherent magnetization reversal, and employed statistical calculation of the probable magnetization for magnetic particles in the interior of the magnetic layer of the medium. These simulations confirmed that a circular magnetization mode is formed in the medium during high-density recording, causing recording demagnetizing losses, as we predicted qualitatively about twenty years ago.
