Abstract:

In this paper, a downlink packet scheduling algorithm for OFDMA systems is proposed, which is based on the utility function to guarantee both the packet drop ratio and the play-out outage ratio of video streaming service. The existing algorithms, both modified-largest weighted delay first (M-LWDF) and exponent proportional fair (EXP/PF) rule can achieve good results in terms of head-of-line (HOL) packet delay, which affects the packet drop ratio. However, they can not consider the play-out outage ratio. Simulation results show that our proposed algorithm outperforms the existing scheduling algorithms in term of packet drop ratio and play-out outage ratio.
