Abstract:

In this paper, magnetic properties of dumbbell shaped magnetic elements is discussed. Magnetic force microscopy (MFM) is used to map the magnetic spin distribution inside the elements and their arrangements under application of a varying applied field. Object Oriented Micro-magnetic Framework (OOMMF) simulations are used to understand and explain their switching behavior. These nanostructures can find potential applications in systems such as quantum-dot cellular automata (MQCA) systems.
