Abstract:
In cross-layered wireless networks, adaptive modulation and coding (AMC) and selective repeat-automatic repeat request (SR-ARQ) are employed to improve system performance generally. The article focuses on the impacts of feedback delay on such systems over Rayleigh fading channels. It is conducive to choosing more suitable modulation format in AMC by computing bit error rate (BER) based on the second-order statistics method when partitioning SNR levels. Accordingly, we provided N-success/N+1-failure throughput model for performance analysis in this paper. Then simulation results demonstrate that the system considering feedback delay not only does guarantee the average packet error rate (PER) constrains, but also improve system average spectral efficiency
