Abstract:

The IEEE 802.15.3 has introduced a type of time division multiple access (TDMA) which allocates the variable length of timeslot within a constant time interval. However, it needs dynamic timeslot scheduler because the length of timeslot can be changed during the connection of the variable bit rate (VBR) services. In this paper, we propose a new hybrid multiple access scheme based on both TDMA and CSMA. A TDMA timeslot virtually allocated for a specific station can be accessed by other stations using CSMA. The most important thing is that our proposed scheme achieves high throughput and low delay without complex scheduler. Through the computer simulations it is shown that the proposed scheme yields a significant performance improvement in terms of average delay and throughput.
