Abstract:
The effect of varying frequency, temperature and end groups on the dielectric properties of four substituted monomeric cobalt phthalocyanine complexes was studied over the range 100 Hz to 1 MHz 40 degrees C-160 degrees C. The dielectric constant was shown to increase with increasing temperature and decreasing frequency. Complexes with imido end groups show a low dielectric constant on the order of 10, while complexes with carboxylic end groups show high dielectric constants on the order of 10/sup 3/-10/sup 4/. Thus, nomadic polarization effects in the phthalocyanine macrocycle seem to be significantly modified by different substituents.<>
