Abstract:

Orbital Sciences developed MAESTRO (mission adaptive environment for spacecraft test and real-time operations) to serve as the command and control system software for flying numerous satellites from our Mission Operations Center (MOC). Although MAESTRO was originally developed for spacecraft operations, it is now used for testing at box, subsystem, and spacecraft levels on nearly all of our missions. This paper highlights the development and applicability of MAESTRO to the Glory mission operations, as well as how it will be used during I&T. One focus is on how MAESTRO can reduce costs required to perform mission operations. Utilizing common software across programs reduces the need for additional training. Automated telemetry monitoring software allows operations to be done with minimal staff and accommodates unattended operations on weekends.
