Abstract:

This paper mainly develops a low-cost high-performance sensorless control method for single phase brushless DC motor (BLDCM). It is based on the winding time-sharing principle. During most of time in one control cycle, winding is used as a driving component with load current to drive motor rotating. During the rest of the time, it is used as a sensing component to detect the back EMF (BEMF), which is essential for the motor commutation. The paper also studies how to realize phase commutation advance when motor is running in high speed under this sensorless control.
