Abstract:

A high density multistandard RF concept for a video cassette recorder is described. The concept is based on a power splitter, an antenna switch, a modulator, and a tuner. In this approach the tuner and the modulator are phase-locked-loop (PLL) controlled and the modulator frequency is moved up to the high end of the UHF band. Measurement results showing the potential of this unit are compared with present design concepts. The unit covers all existing frequency bands worldwide, and positive/negative modulation for SECAM, PAL, and NTSC.<>
