Abstract:
The novel transmit diversity of space-time block coding and the famous receive diversity of maximum ratio combining are two attractive techniques for 3G wireless communication systems. In order to analyze what difference lies in performances between them compared with traditional SISO matched filtering scheme, the receiver recovered signals' mean and variance expressions for these three schemes were derived in details. The performance analyses came to a conclusion that with the same total transmit signal power, the STBC offers diversity advantage, but it can not offer extra SNR gain compared to the matched filtering scheme, while the MRRC can provide not only receive diversity, but also some extra SNR gain compared to the matched filtering scheme. The final computer simulation results based on Monte-Carlo method for the complex distribution variables are presented to prove the +conclusion.
