Abstract:
The new generation of the Internet protocol, IPv6, replaces the IPv4 sooner or later in order to acquire sufficient IP addresses and guarantee the quality of service. The mobile IPv4 has been designed for mobility management in pure IPv4 networks as well as the mobile IPv6 for pure IPv6 networks. The IPv6 networks is most likely to be gradually deployed, resulting in IPv4/IPv6 co-existed networks environment with interconnected IPv4 and IPv6 networks. As described above, the co-existed networks need a solution to solve the mobility management that runs over both IPv4 and IPv6 access networks. Hence, in this paper, we proposed a new and efficient method of mobility management for moving in co-existed networks. This method introduces the MAP-TS, by integrating the concepts of HMIP6 and tunnel broker, to solve the predicament of MIPv4 and MIPv6. As a result, not only the mobile node can access IPv6 network with the heterogeneity of lower IP infrastructure, but also the amount of signaling between the mobile node, correspondent nodes and home agent is reduced significantly.
