Abstract:
This paper reports a prototype of thin coaxial cable, of which diameter is 100 /spl mu/m and of which shield layer is made by plating technique. The developed thin cable consists of four parts; 1) Core metal: It is a copper line which diameter is 30 /spl mu/m 2) Insulator: It is formed around a core metal by Fluoroplastic, and its diameter containing the core metal is 82 /spl mu/m; 3) Shield Layer: 3 /spl mu/m-thickness copper layer is mounted around the core by plating; 4) Jacket: It covers the shield layer by poly-urethane. A key of the process is a surface treatment to Fluoroplastic as the pre-treatment of plating. The cold plasma under atmospheric pressure is applied to the modification of surface condition of Fluoroplastic. This paper deals with the overview of process and the details of the key processes among them. Then, the properties of prototype are discussed with some experiments about its mechanical and electromagnetic properties.
