Abstract:
One of the keys to the implementation of a technology for predictive maintenance and reliability is the ability to estimate how much time is left prior to equipment failure. In this presentation, we shall discuss the guidelines as to the time to failure following changes in the trending of motor circuit analysis readings. In many cases, early detection of faults and the application of this method will allow for the reconditioning versus rewinding of electrical machinery. The scope of the paper will be low voltage, random wound induction motors in a clean electrical environment. The paper will also include a definition of the three stages of winding failure.
