Abstract:

David W. Borst died on 1 December 2000 of injuries suffered in an automobile accident in Palos Verdes, CA. He was an IAS Member and IEEE Fellow since 1978. His Fellow citation reads, “For contributions in the application of power semiconductor devices.” His awards include the Outstanding Achievement Award of the Industry Applications Society in 1978; the Distinguished Contribution Award of the Engineering Department of the Electronic Industries Association (EIA), 1984; and a Certificate of Appreciation from EIA. David's other IEEE activities include Committee and Conference leadership positions in over 20 assignments, all of which were related to power electronics and power conversion. He was the IEEE-IAS representative to ANSI/USNC Technical Committee TC-47 and was the U.S. delegate to the International Electrotechnical Commission, Technical Committee 47 on Semiconductor Devices and Integrated Circuits in the United States, Canada, and Europe.
