Chapter Abstract:
Summary
As the Internet of Things (IoT) and the new digital economy continue to develop quickly, edge devices and data are multiplying at astounding rates. Safe end‐to‐end communications are essential for 5G, and quantum encryption, which creates safe codes, might be the answer to the fast‐expanding IoT. Cryptographic methods are currently employed on the IoT to aid secure communication. Without a doubt, quantum technology—particularly quantum computing—has enormous promise to transform a wide range of industries, including communications, real‐time data analytics, biotechnology, genetic sequencing, and materials research. By affecting the field of artificial intelligence and the metaverse, quantum computing will also hasten the future. Advances in quantum computer design, fault‐tolerant algorithms, and new fabrication technologies are now transforming this “holy grail” technology into a realistic program poised to surpass traditional computation in some applications. Planning and implementation of quantum education and workforce development are also necessary for our rapidly approaching quantum future.
