Chapter Abstract:
Summary
In the past, conversations about wellbeing and digital wellbeing have been more concerned with setting boundaries than exploring possibilities. This chapter explores and animates several key frameworks as well as examples we can draw from to make healthy lifestyle choices that prioritize our sense of agency. Spatial computing is a new form of computing that uses AI, computer vision, and extended reality technologies to seamlessly blend virtual content into the physical world, breaking free from traditional screens. Dignity, freedom, invention, and agency are four cornerstones that provide a foundation for wellbeing, and they should be underneath all creative processes, and a way to approach mindful media design. Designing experiences that support wonder‐rich digital wellbeing must necessarily involve deeper awareness and understanding of emotional intelligence and mindful experience design. This involves understanding how to connect well with others and engage in positive collaborative experiences so that we all can thrive.
