Abstract:
A novel wideband antenna with tilted beam patterns and transparent characteristics for vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication is presented which is composed of a monopole as the radiator, two patches as the beam director, and an electromagnetic bandgap structure as the reflector. Based on the metal mesh technology and a transparent substrate of cyclic olefin copolymer (COC) material, the proposed antenna realizes the transparency up to 70.1%. The measured results show that the fabricated prototype realizes remarkable tilt angles of 30-51° and high gains exceeding 6.23 dBi in a wide bandwidth of 4-7 GHz. The proposed concept could be an effective design placed on the vehicle's windshields for the coming V2X communications.
