Abstract:

This paper introduces a textile-based polarization reconfigurable aperture-coupled microstrip patch antenna designed specifically for real time health monitoring. Operating at ISM band 2.45 GHz, the antenna utilizes strategically placed slots over a concentric circular slot on the patch to achieve three distinct polarization states at 0° and ± 45° polarization angles. Its innovative design includes textile materials for lightweight and flexible integration. The antenna architecture comprises the antenna structure itself, slot actuators functioning as switches, and a grounded plane, ensuring simplicity and reliability. Rigorous simulations with bending analysis validate the antenna’s performance within the specified frequency band with around 2.8 dBi of gain, highlighting its suitability for dynamic polarization adjustment in confined environments. Additionally, the proposed textile-based antenna is kept into a meshed human hand model to evaluate Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) value in a practical manner.
