Abstract:

This paper presents the design of a dual-band single input multiple output dielectric resonator array antenna for a wide range of wireless communication. The proposed antenna system operates on frequency bands suitable for WLAN, WiMAX, and emerging 5G networks. It also has the potential for advanced Wi-Fi applications including Wi-Fi 6E, satellite communications, radar systems, electronic warfare, and drone communications. It consists of two symmetrically orthogonal radiators excited through a narrow rectangular aperture coupled to a feed line. The design allows the operation of this antenna within a wide frequency range starting from 3.3 GHz up to 5.54 GHz, thus being able to support multiple wireless technologies. A SIMO configuration enhances the performance of the antenna, allowing for potentially higher signal qualities and data transmission rates in different wireless communication scenarios. The contribution of this work will thus be to the design of efficient multi-purpose antenna systems, capable of meeting the ever-growing radiated requirements of modern wireless communication networks.
