Abstract:

In this article, National ENERGY System Operator (NESO), the Great Britain (GB) energy system operator, aims to share its best practice for the introduction and development of emerging grid-forming (GF) capability for voltage-sourced-converter-based technological applications, including but not limited to high-voltage direct current (HVdc), the flexible ac transmission system, and other converter-based applications within GB energy markets, through its strategic development. In doing so, it will potentially help relevant value chain players explore and evolve regional and even global energy markets for emerging GF converter (GFC)-based technologies.
