Chapter Abstract:

Summary

A new method for detecting leaks in underwater pipelines is the use of a mobile‐controlled robotic fish. The fish is specially designed to be operated remotely by a mobile device allowing for precise navigation in cramped spaces. The fish is equipped with sensors that can identify changes in water pressure and temperature indicating pipe leaks. This approach offers a cost‐effective and nonintrusive solution to detect and locate underwater pipe leaks, eventually enhancing the effectiveness and safety of maintenance operations. In this work, a prototype robotic fish with a GSM alert is developed for leakage detection in an underwater pipeline. The 5G/6G network will be useful for effective underwater communication and the detection of any defect or leakage in underwater pipelines.
