Abstract:

Motorcycle accidents often result in severe injuries or fatalities, a situation worsened by riders' non-compliance with helmet regulations and the delay in emergency response times. Addressing these critical challenges requires a comprehensive system that not only enforces helmet usage but also ensures swift action for helping the rider in the event of an accident. This work proposes developing a dual-function system designed to promote road safety and save lives. The system integrates advanced hardware and software components to monitor helmet usage in real time. Continuous surveillance detects when a rider is not wearing a helmet and sends alerts, ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Additionally, the system will be equipped to detect accidents, triggering an immediate notification to pre-defined emergency contacts. This rapid response capability is crucial in minimizing the time between an accident and the arrival of medical assistance, potentially reducing the severity of injuries and saving lives. By combining these functionalities, this initiative aims to create a safer riding environment, encouraging helmet use while providing a lifeline in emergencies. Ultimately, this system represents a significant step forward in motorcycle safety, with the potential to make roads safer for everyone.
