Study on flow and cooling performance of aircraft brake cooling fan

The economy is crucial to aircraft operations. To enhance economy, it is necessary to reduce aircraft turnaround time as much as possible to improve dispatch efficiency. However, due to the high temperature and slow heat dissipation rate of the brake, the turnaround time will be prolonged. Installing brake cooling fans is an effective measure to reduce the brake cooling time. Currently, there are few studies on aircraft brake cooling fan. This paper simulates the flow field and temperature field of an aircraft brake with a fan to study the cooling performance of the fan at different rotating rates. The work is useful for the design of a brake cooling fan.
