Abstract:

In Panama there are more than 23 thousand minors who are victims of child labor according to figures from the National Institute of Statistics and Census (INEC). This research analyzes the data obtained from the Child Labor Survey conducted during the years 2014 and 2016, to compare them and determine the characteristics in which their participation occurs. In addition, the study provides fundamental statistical models and calculations to estimate the relationships between variables that help to monitor and evaluate the programs carried out by the different social agents, resulting in a decrease in child labor in the Republic of Panama between 2014 and 2016 in all age ranges studied (from 5 to 17 years old), concluding that Panama is one of the countries in Latin America and the Caribbean that most progress has been made in the process of eradicating child labor.
