Abstract:
The magnetic field aboard the new Italian high speed train is due to both the 2x25 kV-50 Hz railway line and to the distribution cable which connects the two traction cars at the extremities of the train. In the passenger carriages the magnetic flux density results from the penetration through the aluminum walls and to the leakage through the windows. The simulation of a possible railway traction system configuration is carried out to calculate the current distribution in the line conductors. Then, the map of the magnetic induction aboard the train is obtained by a 2D-CAD field simulator based on the finite element method. Different shielding techniques, involving passive and active configurations, are investigated for the reduction of the power frequency magnetic field aboard the train. The obtained results show the feasibility of the proposed mitigation techniques, which can be used as guidelines for industrial realization.
