Abstract:

Attention stands as a pivotal factor influencing task performance, with the eyes serving as an intricate conduit of information, elucidating the trajectory of attention and unveiling the intricate tapestry of emotional and cognitive states. This proposal introduces novel design approaches aimed at enhancing attention within pervasive augmented reality (PAR) settings through interactive gaze-focused techniques. Preliminary works showcase the impact of conventional augmented reality (AR) in diagnosis and treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), but its impact within PAR remains largely unexplored. There is a significant gap in understanding the challenges faced by individuals with ADHD in multitasking scenarios within PAR. The aim is to explore the four primary challenges associated with ADHD in AR settings: distraction, social presence, personalization, and accessibility requirements. Emphasizing the importance of personalized attention guidance involves developing tailored interventions that provide cognitive engagement alongside standard accessibility features for immersive environments.
