Abstract:

This study presents a novel approach for angle-of-arrival (AoA) estimation in dual-frequency band frequency-modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar systems through range and Doppler dependent calibration. Building upon our previous research, the study addresses challenges associated with phase coherence between antenna arrays operating at different frequencies. The proposed methodology involves an initial calibration to determine the phase offsets, followed by the creation of a lookup table based on target range and Doppler. Simulation and measurement results demonstrate the effectiveness of this approach in AoA estimation, improving the angular accuracy and resolution of the radar system.
