Abstract:

The Maehly approximation has been widely used in RCS prediction, especially in scalar domains such as frequency domain and angle domain. In this paper, the error analysis of the Maehly approximation is carried out, and an adaptive prediction scheme with controllable error is given. Firstly, the program framework is optimized for the one-dimensional (1D) Maehly approximation. Secondly, the calculation accuracy of Chebyshev polynomial and the Maehly approximation in the numerical examples of elementary function and sweep angle is compared. Finally, according to the errors of the two methods in adjacent order, the optimal method is selected adaptively. The effectiveness of the proposed method is proved by numerical examples.
