Abstract:
An embedded flexible shape cable has been first proposed and the verification of real-time shape measurement has been achieved. It is produced by sequentially preparing shape sensing units, shape sensing optical cables, and optoelectronic composite cables. Temperature has little effect on shape reconstruction over a long period of time, and the end stability is less than 0.012m. Real-time shape measurement is achieved in both vertical and horizontal directions within a range of 4.5 m. The curvature measurement accuracy is 0.05 m1 and the shape reconstruction errors are 3.0% and 1.7%, respectively. The flexible shape cables can be used for shape monitoring in areas such as power transmission cables between islands and flexible pipeline cables for offshore oil and gas resource extraction, improving the safety of marine resource development.
