Abstract:

Cylindrical microwave body scanners for security screening can generate higher resolution images than planar scanners due to the larger effective synthetic aperture. This article thoroughly assesses a cylindrical whole-body microwave imaging system. Various quantitative metrics, such as lateral resolution (3.4 mm), depth resolution (3.5 mm), illumination coverage, and minimum detectability, were measured using specific test objects. The measurement method for each metric is also explained in detail. Additionally, this study addresses an issue observed in incomplete cylindrical scans, where certain scanlines are absent.
