Abstract:
This paper presents a novel high voltage gain boost converter with bipolar outputs. The output ports of the converter share a common ground with the input source. Direct connection of the input source to the neutral point of AC and bipolar DC grids eliminates common mode leakage currents. The proposed topology ensures continuous input current and utilizes only a single switch. Moreover, the converter has self-balancing ability in the output capacitors. These features make it a promising choice for bipolar DC microgrid applications and as an input source for inverters like the single-phase half-bridge inverter. Employing coupled inductors in the converter reduces component count and the total price. Furthermore, the maximum voltage stress on the switch and diodes is equal to half of the total output voltage, providing an additional advantage for bipolar output converters. The paper includes a theoretical analysis and a comparative study with other bipolar converters. Finally, to verify the analysis, simulation results based on MATLAB Simulink are presented.
