Abstract:
With the increasing prevalence of vehicle thefts and the inconvenience of managing traditional keys, vehicle security has become a pressing concern. To address this issue, we propose a fingerprint-authenticated vehicle starter system, offering a secure and convenient method to start and stop the engine without the need for physical keys. Users simply scan their fingerprints to initiate the car, eliminating the risk of key misplacement or loss. The system ensures that only authorized users can start the vehicle, with users registering their fingerprints into the system. Multiple users can be registered as authorized users. In monitoring mode, the system prompts users to scan their fingerprints. Upon scanning, the system verifies if the user is authorized, allowing engine startup solely for authorized individuals. To implement this system, we utilize an Arduino MEGA microcontroller. The fingerprint sensor and keypad are connected to the microcontroller, along with an LCD display, switches, and a motor representing the vehicle starter. This setup not only automates vehicle startup but also enhances security through the integration of a fingerprint-based system and a web camera for surveillance.
