Abstract:

We are presenting SAR interferometric processing efforts aimed at mapping surface motion across the entire Greek territory, including the totality of the islands. We introduce a nationwide surface motion product derived utilizing Copernicus Sentinel-1 mission and the on-demand SNAPPING service on the GEP platform. The totality of Copernicus Sentinel-1 archive over Greece in descending orbits was exploited covering the period between 04/2015 and 12/2021. As an outcome of the activity, a total number of 4M point measurements were detected, showing surface motion at medium resolution. Being generic, SNAPPING results enabled the quantification of motion and its dynamics for a rather broad spectrum of phenomena, comprising land subsidence, landslides, earthquake, tectonic movements and volcano deformation. Tiled products are publicly available on the GEP platform for both inspection and download by registered GEP users.
