Abstract:

The project aims to address urinary incontinence (UI) through a comprehensive approach, integrating smart wearable technology, functional electrical stimulation (FES), extracorporeal magnetic intervention therapy and vibration therapy. This novel approach aims to design a wearable belt capable of delivering all three therapies in a single one hour session. FES is utilized for muscle activation, specifically targeting weakened pelvic floor muscles. Extracorporeal magnetic fields are explored for non-invasive neuromodulation and vibration therapy is used for muscle regeneration. The combination of modalities underlines a new solution for the same disease.
