Chapter Abstract:

Summary

In the SiP design process, library creation is the first problem which the designer will encounter. This chapter describes the structure of the Mentor central library. The central library contains symbols, cells, parts and padstacks, reused blocks, and simulation models. The chapter then presents an introduction to the dashboard, describes schematic symbol creation, bare chip cell creation, ball grid array (BGA) cell creation and part creation, The Dashboard contains a variety of tools used in SiP design; these tools can be started directly from the dashboard. The chapter also explores how to create cell via part. In each design there is a local library containing the parts, symbols, cells and padstacks only used in this design. Modifying the local library cell data will automatically update the cell in layout design, but does not change the central library data associated with the design.
