A Review of GPU Virtualization Technology Based on API Redirection

With the continuous development of cloud computing, artificial intelligence and other technologies, the importance of GPU virtualization technology has been continuously strengthened in deep learning and intelligent computing. Compared with traditional device pass-through technology, quasi-virtualization technology and full virtualization technology, virtualization technology based on API redirection not only achieves resource segmentation, but also does not need to obtain detailed equipment documents and driver source code, which has great advantages. GPU virtualization technology based on API redirection is mainly based on user-mode API redirection and kernel-mode API redirection, which are the two mainstream development directions. At present, there are already implementation schemes, which have certain differences and connections in terms of time-sharing, space-sharing, computing isolation and other aspects. At the same time, the future development of GPU virtualization technology should pay more attention to the aspects of preemption and security.
