Abstract:
This paper presents the importance of stakeholder-centric dynamic operating envelopes for integrating distributed energy resources (DERs) in distribution networks. Excessive power injections by the customers affect distribution network performance, causing voltage imbalance, demonstrating the need for equitable and fair allocation of dynamic operating envelopes. This study uses an iterative approach to assess dynamic operating envelopes for a low-voltage distribution network. The dynamic operating envelopes are set by hourly hosting capabilities of Electric Vehicles (EVs) and Solar Photovoltaics (PVs) in a real suburban distribution network in Australia with 966 customers. Based on the literature review and case study, this paper suggests that a stakeholder-focused bi-level approach for defining a dynamic operating envelope can benefit stakeholders during large-scale penetration.
