Abstract:

A hollow beam is a ring-shaped beam with a zero central intensity, which has wide applications in particle manipulation and super-resolution microscopy imaging. Based on this, this paper proposes a method for obtaining hollow beams based on cross-phase modulation, which has the advantages of simple structure, strong controllability, and low laser power requirement. Firstly, the intensity distribution of the outgoing hollow beam is explored from both theoretical derivation and numerical simulation. The simulation results are in excellent agreement with the theory, proving the feasibility of this method. Secondly, the intensity distribution images of beams with self-phase modulation and cross-phase modulation are compared, and the results show that under the same conditions, the number of rings in the cross-phase modulation is twice that of the self-phase modulation, which has stronger nonlinear effects than self-phase modulation.
