Abstract:

The evolution into the 6th generation(6G) and the prospects of the 7th generation (7G) beholds a new era of networking, promising unprecedented breakthroughs on the Internet of Things network. Our paper proposes a holistic overview by exploring the evolving IoT networks, focusing on the integration with 6G and beyond. In addition, it examines the projection of the number of devices connected through IoT up to 2030. This paper scrutinizes the emerging technologies that are most likely to define future networking communications, including all the major technologies like Multiple Input Multiple Outputs (MIMO), visible light communication, Edge Intelligence for Resource Allocation, Distributed Internet of Things Edge Network (DITEN), Wireless Energy Transfer, and more. The review focuses on the challenges posed by these technologies, outlining their benefits as well as the limitations of IoT networks. Moreover, it highlights the fundamental security concerns and the need for robust infrastructure. Through a comprehensive analysis of existing research and developments, the paper is designed to provide thoughtful insights into transforming 6G plus 7G for IoT networks. Nevertheless, our paper seeks to offer a roadmap for researchers for a comprehensive overview of the dynamic technologies of IoT in the forthcoming era of communications.
