Abstract:

The research work seeks to understand the need of organizations to shift their business to a Cloud Environment specifically in the post pandemic situation, and suggests a set of best practices for cloud migration considering the security concerns in different industries. This is a primary qualitative research based on a semi-structured in-depth interview of 19 technology experts from various industries. Initially 27 experts were approached, 19 responses were received and they were then engaged into a detailed in-depth interview. The qualitative thematic analysis of the data led to a few major findings. The research indicates the cloud adoption for carrying out the business virtually could be a game changer for any medium or large-scale organization in the post pandemic phase. Various organizations can use this study to reduce their capex and opex in the pandemic situation by carrying out their business virtually using the suggested set of best practices for cloud migration.

I. Introduction

As highlighted by the tech giants, most of the companies across economies are considering a major shift to remote working, post the corona virus outbreak. Facebook Inc. Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg in May’20 made a revelation that they will look into reconfiguring the operations in the coming decades, so that almost half of his workforce can work from home. This move was followed by an announcement made by Twitter Inc., saying it would allow their employees to work from home indefinitely. Remote working will become a new normal and will be widely accepted, as observed by the Executives of LinkedIn Corp. The above claims by these tech giants shows the new trend that would capture the whole workspace into a new way of carrying out business.[1], [2].
